OATMEAL COOKIES

1 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup oats

Set oven to 375 degrees.

In bowl, mix together the first 6 ingredients.
Add shortening and eggs.
Add vanilla, beat well.

Stir in oats. Roll into balls. Dip into sugar.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet for 10 to 12 minutes.
